Advice on 'Carriage'

Advice on 'Carriage'You've ordered the promotional item, they are being personalised, and it's simply a matter of getting the goods delivered to you. What could possibly go wrong?

Here at RT Promotions, we work in partnership with our suppliers, and do our very best to ensure your valued goods arrive on time, and at the right location, on every single order we process. However, an integral part of getting promotional products from the factory to our clients premises, is the use of 'business carriers' or couriers, whom we often have litlle direct control over, and could be seen as the weakest-link in the chain to get the items to you.

In order to minimise the risk of your order being 'mishandled', we recommend a few simple tips:

  1. When a carrier delivery arrives, always check that the delivery is made to the right location and that it has been loaded into the area required. A carrier must deliver the goods as required, and not outside the suggested building or at the nearest available area.
  2. Ensure all staff members are aware of your carrier protocol and are aware of any deliveries expected that day. When a delivery arrives, take the original order form/invoice with you to check against the carrier's delivery note. Check the exterior of the cartons for damage.
  3. Ensure all of the products, as well as the correct quantity of the products, have been delivered - this will involve physically counting items. If possible, open all boxes to check them inside as well as their outsides.
  4. If all goods are correct, sign and date the delivery note stating names clearly. Both you and the carrier service should have a copy of this document. The carrier will not wait for you to open the cartons if there is no obvious external damage, so always sign for goods as unchecked, this could save you a lot of pain and money.
  5. If there are damaged goods within the boxes, or shortages to the quantity specified, make a note of this, and ensure you report the matter within 48 hours to both the carrier and your supplier, hopefully that will be us - this is the usual policy required.

It's very rare for things to go wrong, and taking note of these simple tips will help minimise your risks.
